2024 March Reno/Sparks Polka Dot Powerhouse in-person meeting
POSITIVITY - CONNECTION - COLLABORATION - CELEBRATION
We are not your typical networking group. We are a connection company! It is our mission to connect the world’s most positive, action-forward, amazing women to build lifelong friendships and business relationships. We invite you to learn, make connections, be inspired, and meet other growth-focused women. We welcome all women who are looking to be an active participant in a supportive community of women, so working in or on a business is optional. Polka Dot Powerhouse is an International organization known for a no-drama culture – it is women supporting each other as we all strive to be our best selves. Open the door to possibilities as you learn and grow with like-minded women. What is possible in your life? If you've been feeling disconnected or out of touch lately, then this is the meeting for you! We'd love to have you connect with our community. Invite your friends and let's celebrate and support each other! Guests are welcome to attend one meeting for free as a non-member.
SPEAKER: Alyssa Ropell
Alyssa is the Development Manager of the Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC). She's been in her role going on seven years. As a nonprofit, DVRC relies on diverse funding from government, state, county, and private sources. Her role consists of grant writing, donor stewardship, fundraising and other resource development to maintain and sustain our operations.
TOPIC: We are a group of women who support other women, so Alyssa will be speaking about the issue of domestic violence and the resources available.
About DVRC: The Domestic Violence Resource Center (formerly Committee to Aid Abused Women) was founded in 1977 as the state’s first provider of support and services for domestic violence victims and their children. The Domestic Violence Resource Center’s mission statement is to, “Rebuild safe and hopeful lives for victims of family violence.” The organization’s philosophy is centered around believing that every individual has the right to live a life free of violence. Our purpose is to use empowerment and self-help models to help our clients lead safe and independent lives. Today, the Domestic Violence Resource Center provides the region’s most comprehensive range of services for victims including emergency shelter, an extensive transitional housing program featuring 19 transitional housing units, financial coaching for residents, and is Northern Nevada’s exclusive domestic violence partner with Noah’s Animal House, a pet boarding facility.
