Topic: 100% Safe, Smart Money Moves for Retiring Better

Description:

Retirement money management is a mystery to most. It’s often associated with being complicated, risky and expensive (which the stock market can be). Annuities and IULs (Indexed Universal Life) enjoy the benefits of the stock market while erasing the risk and expense. Knowledge is power; it doesn’t have to be complicated or scary.

Takeaways:

  • Learn about: IULs (Indexed Universal Life)

    • a multi tasking tool: life insurance, living benefits & retirement $ pot

    • tax free financial strategy for early or better retirement.

  • Annuities 101:

    • What are they?

    • What can they do?

      • Creating a lifetime income stream for yourself or someone else

      • Stash chunks to take advantage of profitable bonuses

      • Lower taxable income through planned income

Lisa Polk - Bio Grew up POOR. Worked from the age of 14 as a server and barback/tender. At 27 finally got a Bachelor Degree from State University of New York at Albany in Teaching and Psychology. Landed a teaching position and started working on never being poor again. Married at 18 and a Navy wife for 21 years. Have lived in 7 states & seen all 50 of them. I am a mother to one daughter. Divorced 3 times, widowed once.

After teaching gang bangers for 8 years I wanted to find safer work, so I got an MBA from University of AZ and went into the non profit corporate world. God wasn’t having that career switch (which lasted 4 years) and I ended up teaching again. Eventually getting another Masters from California State University at Bakersfield in Literacy with a Secondary Education Reading Specialist Credential. I developed and implemented literacy programs for high school students. As an English Teacher and Reading Specialist I taught the bottom 25% of high school students English content and Literacy comprehension strategies for 26 years. Retired at 57 with a parachute offer I couldn’t refuse. I was too young to touch pre tax retirement savings without penalties and so I learned how important an IUL would have been. That is also when I moved to Idaho (in 2020) after having visited here about 6 times over the course of my career because of lifelong friendships who are now my neighbors. I turned my $$ hobby & knowledge into a PT job and got a license for life insurance and annuities (in Ca & then here in ID). That helped me and many relatives, friends, former colleagues, coworkers, students and client referrals to put retirement accounts into place. I stick to life insurance and annuities because I don’t ever want to be responsible for people losing money. I agree that having a part of your portfolio in the market is important (I have a part of mine there). I just won’t be the person responsible for decisions which put money at risk
