The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: A Deep Dive Into Personal Care Ingredients 5/4 (In person Treasure Valley, ID)

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: A Deep Dive Into Personal Care Ingredients 5/4 (In person Treasure Valley, ID)
TOPIC: Most people, upon looking at the ingredient deck on their favorite cleanser, deodorant or shampoo, find it difficult to translate the list of long words, let alone discern whether they are helping or hurting one’s health. Join Annie in breaking down what’s actually IN your favorite personal care items so that you can shop and lather with your health at the forefront.

BIO: Annie’s connection to beauty officially took flight at the age of 23 after graduating from Indiana University with a degree in production and design. She packed her bags and moved to Los Angeles to accept a job at Quentin Tarantino’s commercial and music video production company, ultimately giving Annie access to a myriad of makeup artists who’s mentorship allowed Annie’s dream of working in the beauty industry to become a reality. It was during this time that Annie got hit like a mack truck with cystic acne. Instead of going on Accutane, Annie went back to school to study Cosmetic Chemistry at UCLA and began formulating products out of her home that healed her chronic skin issues in less than 40 days. What was originally a journey to help Annie’s skin eventually became the catalyst to helping hundreds of others with their most stubborn skin issues. Looking back, if she had never had acne, she never would have created what is now SkinOwl Inc, a vegan, cruelty free, mindful skincare line with transparency, care and approachability as its guiding principles.

A decade and a half later, Annie Tevelin is now an accomplished and creative skincare formulator, the face behind SkinOwl’s first brick + mortar in Boise, Idaho, and a business mentor to those wanting to build a proprietary brand. Annie’s vast experience has afforded her an amazing clientele, ranging from Hollywood celebrities including Lance Bass, Hailey Beiber and Drake to working mamas who demand more out of their beauty regimen and selfcare. She recently won the Small Business Association’s 2022 ‘Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ and hopes to keep breaking down the walls of a beauty industry that so often preys upon women instead of helping them. She is honored to be here today!
